Rangers have signed Ajax's 28 year old Georgian attacker Shota Averladze. He flew into Glasgow today for signing talks and a medical and will sign for the Gers subject to a work permit being granted. He has now returned to his home country to prepare for their World Cup match against Hungary. Rangers looked to have lost out on the signing of Don Hutchison after Chairman David Murray refused to meet Sunderland's fee. It now looks likely he will sign for West Ham. Kenny Miller could go on loan to Wolves in an attempt to kick start his career. However, hit kid Miller sees the move as helping his Rangers career, and hopes to be back at Ibrox as soon as possible. Meanwhile Allan Johnston's move to Boro is still on. Shota will be inelligable for Gers UEFA Cup tie against Anzhi Makhachkala, because he has already played for Ajax, in the Champion's League qualifier against Celtic.

Rangers UEFA cup match against Anzhi Makhachkala will probably still go ahead in Dagestan. However The British Government has advised Rangers and their fans not to travel to the troubled region. Rangers have made their fears known to UEFA. Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has claimed Dundee manager Ivano is 'obviously not right in the head' if he thinks Rangers can't win the SPL. Bonetti's comments have angered Ibrox, and Dundee chairman Jimmy Marr claims that perhaps when the Italian has been in management longer, he will learn some tact.

Rangers rookie defender, Maurice Ross, has blasted back at Dundee manager Ivano Bonetti. The Italian stated after yesterdays match that Rangers had 'no chance' of winning back the SPL title from Celtic. However Young Mo blasted 'That might be his opinion but I think he should get his own house in order first'. Rangers chairman David Murray, says he has not given up hope of signing Don Hutchison. The club have already had a £4m bid rejected and Sunderland want £6m for the Scotland International. However Murray has told the Wearsiders that the club will not pay that amount. But he is still working on the deal.

The first Old Firm game of the season will be switched from 29th September to 30th September because of Rangers involvement in the UEFA cup 1st round second leg tie again Makhachkala. Kick off is 1 pm. UEFA spokesman Gerhart Aigner has opened the way for the Old Firm to move to the EPL, by stating UEFA can see no obstacles to the move, because they currently allow Welsh clubs to play in England and qualify for Europe.

Hibs have agreed a fee with the Gers, for young striker Kenny Miller, believed to be in the region of £1.5m. Rangers chairman David Murray is confident he can agree personal terms with the player within the next 48 hours. Arthur Numan will probably start Hollands match against France tonight. Rangers Turkish midfielder Tugay Kerimoglu has been sent home from Euro 2000 after he reacted badly to being subbed before half time in Turkeys match against Belgium. Rangers chairman David Murray has warned Hibs that his £2m offer for Kenny Miller is his final one. Gers will find out this week if the bid has been successful. Finally David Murray is in talks to purchase a majority shareholding of a club in the Far East. The chairman is quoted as saying, "We want to double the size of the Rangers brand within 12 months".

According to the Sun, Tore Andre Flo could sign for Rangers after Euro 2000. The Norwegian striker has admitted he knows of Gers interest. Several other clubs are also interested. Newcastle United are outraged that Rangers have signed Peter Lovenkrands. The Toon bosses clain they have written evidence that AB Copenhagen agreed to sell the striker to them. They are threatening to report them to the Danish FA and possibly UEFA. However they have been told they have no grounds for such a complaint. A team of former Rangers players including Ally McCoist and Mark Walters and captained by Mark Hately won the Scottish Masters tournament at the Braehead Arena. They defeated Hearts in the final. Rangers have lined up a friendly with East Fife for 22nd July at New Bayview.

Rangers have completed the signing of Danish youngster, Peter Lovenkrands from AB Copenhagen on a 3 year contract.The deal will cost Gers £1.5m. David Murray has denied reports that Seb Rozental is to be sold to Everton. The chairman has spoken regularly with Walter Smith, the Toffees bos, but says Rozy has never been discussed. The Daily Records claims that Sunderland boss Peter Reid will make a further attempt to persuade Lorenzo Amoruso to sign for the Makems. Rangers have pulled out of the deal to sign Diego Tristan from Real Mallorca. Chairman David Murray pulled the plug on deal when the Spaniards upped the asking price from the £10m agreed fee to £14m. Mr Murray refused to be messed about by the Spanish club. Paul Ritchie has signed a four year deal with Rangers.

Meanwhile Murray also confirmed that he is confident of wrapping up the deal for both Bert Konterman and Paul Ritchie this week. Staale Stensaas has returned to Norway in a £300,000 deal. Rangers have failed in the deal to sign Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. While the club would have been willing to shell out the £14m transfer fee, it was felt that the players wage demands were excessive.

Rangers win the Scottish Cup final 4-0 to complete the League and cup double and to create a world record of winnig 100 major trophies. FIFA are ready to honour the Gers for this achievement. A crowd of 50,685 watched as Van Bronckhorst(36), Vidmar(47), Dodds(49) and Albertz(51) scored the goals that sealed the Hampden Park victory. Albertz was named 'Man Of The Match'. Billy Dodds has vowed to fight for his place next season, despite the Gers being linked with several other strikers.

The Sun claims that Rangers have made a £2m bid for Hibs young striker Kenny Miller. Hibs have denied that they have received a bid from Gers. Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has blasted the teams lack of commitment at Fir Park on Sunday. He said ''we got what we deserved, simple as that.''. He also warned that if Gers play like that in the Scottish Cup Final, they will be beaten.

Motherwell defeated Rangers at Fir Park. A crowd of 12,310 watched as goals by Twaddle(64) and Spencer(71) handed out only the second defeat of the season for the champions.

Lorenzo Amoruso underwent an operation on his ankle yesterday, virtually ruling him out of the Scottish Cup Final. According to the Daily Record Bert Konterman is desperate to join Rangers. His agent is quoted as saying he wil snub interest from the English Premiership to come to Glasgow Arthur Numan has laughed off claims that he will join Liverpool as the end of next season.He is quoted on skysports.com as saying he will play for Rangers for one more season before moving to Anfield. The Dutch defender said he will negotiate a new contract with Rangers after next season.

Rangers have rejected a £11m bid by Athletico Madrid for Barry Ferguson. David Murray says the player is not for sale. Rangers defender, Tony Vidmar, has signed a one year extension to his contract until 2002. Claudio Reyna has pledged that the team will put on a show in all the remaining games of the season. The Gers take on Hibs at Ibrox tonight. Amoruso will be rested and a 3 match ban will keep him out until the cup final. McCann has a back strain, but may still play.

Rangers defeated Dundee 3-0,in front of a crowd of 50,032. Goals by Dodds(53), McCann(56) and Rozental(71) saw the Gers go 22 points clear at the top of the SPL. The SPL trophy was presented to captain Lorenzo Amoruso at the end of the match. Dick Advocaat saluted the fans and thanked them for magnificent support throughout the season. He also denied reports that he is interested in signing Matt Jansen from Blackburn Rovers.
